"Nobility is a graceful ornament to the civil order." - Edmund Burke

As a sovereign (though unrecognized) monarchy, Westarctica has a proud tradition of bestowing titles of nobility upon its most enthusiastic supporters.

Joining the Peerage of Westarctica is an honor all its own, and many of our noble peers now hold important positions in our governing body, the Royal Council.  The Grand Duke relies on Westarctica's peers for guidance and to help "carry the flag" by serving as living examples of the Westarctican noble ideal.

Life Peerages make a great gifts as well, its something they won't expect and perfect for the person who has everything!

Your Letters Patent are hand-crafted by our Ellsworth King of Arms, and the welcome packages is lovingly assembled by our staff, so please allow at least one month for delivery.

Viscount / Viscountess - $150

The title of viscount originated in Continental Europe as the French title "vicomte," meaning a deputy of a count. It was not used in Great Britain until 1440 when it was made a rank of peerage between earl and baron.  Westarctica has historically had very few viscounts among our noble ranks, but the title is one that holds significant prestige within the nation.

Our most famous viscount is the Viscount of Whitmore, who has the distinction of being Westarctica's first noble peer in 2001.

Each title listed in the dropdown menu to the right is named for a specific geographic feature inside Westarctica's claimed territory.

  • Westarctica postage stamps

  • Westarctica flag sticker

Baron / Baroness - $100

The title of baron is by far the most popular title in Westarctica.  Historically, our barons have been a somewhat rowdy group, but more recently, the barons have brought honor and dignity to the title. For many years, the title of baron was the easiest to obtain, and due to the large number of barons that were welcomed into the Peerage of Westarctica from 2015 - 2018, there was discussion in the Royal Council about making the title unavailable in the future.

However, considering its overwhelming popularity with Westarctica's supporters, the Grand Duke decided to continue creating barons and baronesses for the time being.

Each title listed in the dropdown menu to the right is named for a specific geographic feature inside Westarctica's claimed territory.

Donations at the level of Baron include the following:

  • Hand-crafted Letters Patent with wax seals

  • Copy of The Rise, Fall, and Rebirth of Westarctica

  • Picture of Grand Duke Travis

  • Map of Westarctica

  • Westarctica postage stamps

  • Westarctica flag sticker

  • Letter from the Grand Duke

Baronet / Baronetess - $60

The title of baronet has historically been used by monarchs as a means to raise funds for their nation.  For example, King James I of England sold over 200 baronet titles to help pay for the administration of the royal army.  The cost of the title today would be equivalent to $330,000 U.S. dollars.

Fortunately, modern-day baronets can help contribute to the administrative costs of Westarctica for a fraction of the sum!

Each title listed in the dropdown menu to the right comes from a curated list created by Grand Duke Travis. These names are being used exclusively for the creation of Baronets.

Donations at the level of Baronet include the following:

  • Proclamation of Titleage on parchment

  • Copy of The Rise, Fall, and Rebirth of Westarctica

  • Map of Westarctica

  • Westarctica postage stamps

  • Westarctica flag sticker

  • Letter from the Grand Duke
